SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Graphic Designer/Production Artist will assist the Creative team in developing, producing, and distributing high quality print and digital design solutions that meet marketing strategies and reflect the Universal Companies brand identity. Graphic applications include, but are not limited to, all collateral materials, publications, website and email, print and online advertising, presentations, and sales materials. This team member shall be proficient in creative design software applications and tools, a smart communicator, and a creative executor who can turn vision into reality. A keen sense of clean, bold design and a willingness to adhere to and stand behind stringent brand guidelines are a must.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Web content updates (main website, landing pages, email blast design, banner ads)
  • Sales and marketing material (catalogs, brochures, technical or training manuals, invitations, posters, print and online advertisements)
  • Corporate identity material (stationery, business cards, presentations)
  • Event, conference and tradeshow material (booth displays, signage, banner stands, invitations, posters, agendas, programs and promotional items)
  • Assists with photo shoots on an as-needed basis
  • Must be responsible for seeing all projects through to completion, from concept and design to production or at any stage until the completion
  • Executes production of creative concepts developed by art director or senior-level designers
  • Perform graphic design duties requiring planning, scheduling, and implementation of graphic design projects
  • Strictly follow brand standards and ensure work meets organization guidelines
  • Review design drafts, proof art, and ensure proper pagination and color assignment
  • Assist in the creation and distribution of both client-facing and internal email marketing and communication campaigns
  • Track usage of design assets and accurately archive organized design files, following published procedures
  • Must be available to work extended hours, as business needs dictate
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
      • Strong, conceptual thinker who possesses a wide range of design capabilities including a solid background in print, branding, typography, production, and graphics
      • Comfortable working with and managing outside vendors and printers with some experience on press checks and an understanding of the printing process
      • Demonstrate strong organizational skills in order to juggle multiple projects
      • Successfully manages their time, work flow and schedule in order to meet strict and sometimes aggressive deadlines
      • Able to focus, with a keen attention to detail
      • Open and receptive to design critique but also able to represent their own work and stand up for the design they believe in
      • Resourceful: Able to problem solve and find multiple design solutions, especially under narrow parameters or strict budget restraints
      • Able to work quickly and efficiently
      • Strong communication skills and able to collaborate with the marketing team
      • Should be self-motivated and have the ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment or work independently in a changing environment
      • Ability to follow file nomenclature systems and maintain archive of creative assets, images, and all design project files and track usage
      • Self-driven, proactive and a team player who is willing to assist in areas outside of design role so marketing team goals are met
      • Strong project management skills
      • Must take pride in their work and be passionate about design
      • Proficient in one or both Mac/PC platforms
      • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design preferred. Education and experience necessary to accommodate production duties, traditional and web design with fast-paced design demands.
      • Good knowledge of 4-color printing process
        Must be available to work extended hours as business needs dictate
      • Must be highly proficient with current versions of Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office and familiar with a wide range of other design, web and multimedia software and applications.
      • Experience with motion graphics, video production and editing, HTML, and email software a plus
      • Ability to work well in a team environment, under pressure of tight deadlines, and on multiple projects simultaneously

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

    • 1+ years of experience in graphic design or relevant internship

    Experience in the following a big plus:

    • Video experience/Digital photography
