Gift cards are revenue-generating endorsements of your business. They also provide a unique opportunity for you to gain new customers. However, to do this effectively, it’s important to take these first steps:
1. Don’t pitch a gift card; sell an experience. Entice clients to purchase gift cards by offering a service that includes a keepsake. A candlelight massage is a good example. The recipient can bring home the leftover candle as a reminder of the treatment.
2. Make a good first impression. Once you make the sale, remember that when your clients give gift cards for treatments at your spa, it’s more than a gift. It’s a referral from a trusted loved one. Take this opportunity to engage in proactive service. Offer to find a time for the recipient’s appointment or to answer any questions they may have about your spa.
