Maintenance Every Day Keeps the Repairman Away

Daily maintenance of your equipment will help prevent malfunctions (down time) and costly repairs. It'll also help you get more time out of it, which means minimizing frequent or premature replacement. We asked one of our equipment specialists for some maintenance tips, and he provided these.

Treatment Tables / Facial Chairs

  • Wipe down daily with a soft cloth and remove any oils or product with a mild detergent.
  • Check for looseness or movement not consistent with the normal operation of the table / chair.
  • Check weekly to see that the table or chair operates at its full range of movement.
  • Tighten all visible nuts and screws monthly / quarterly.

Autoclave

  • Remove sealing gasket from inside of lid and wash the gasket with warm soapy water.
  • Rinse gasket thoroughly and shake dry (do not wipe).
  • Replace gasket in lid by tucking it evenly under all lugs, starting at gasket offset device.
  • Clean interior and exterior with warm, soapy water, keeping all electrical parts dry.

Hot Towel Cabi

  • Remove any towels and wipe cabinet dry inside.
  • Ensure operating temperature is in a safe range.
  • Empty drip tray and leave door open.

Steamer

  • Empty water and rinse steamer jar.
  • Dry the heating element.
  • Make sure jar and gasket are clean and dry before replacing.
  • Wipe steamer with a damp cloth.

Mag Lamp

  • Clean lamp and arm with mild cleanser to remove any product buildup from your hands.
  • Refer to cleaning instructions included with lamps that have polycarbonate lenses.

High Frequency & Galvanic

  • Clean electrodes with hospital grade surface disinfectant, then wipe with a damp cloth.
  • Clean handle with hospital grade disinfectant or 90% alcohol.

Pedicure Spa

  • Fill basin with warm water and detergent. Circulate through spa for at least 10 minutes.
  • Drain detergent solution and rinse basin.
  • Refill basin with clean water and circulate EPA registered hospital liquid disinfectant (bactericide, fungicide, and virucide) for at least 10 minutes
  • Drain, rinse, and wipe basin dry with clean paper towel.

Wax Warmer

  • Remove excess wax with a surface cleanser, like Remove or Clean Up from Clean + Easy.
  • Ensure operating temperature is in a safe range.

Stone Warmer 

  • Empty water and wipe entire interior with a clean, damp cloth.
  • Ensure operating temperature is in a safe range.

UV Sanitizer

Check sanitizer bulb to be sure it operates at full strength.

Warming Pads & Covers

  • Launder pads and covers as needed following manufacture’s guidelines.
  • Ensure operating temperature is in a safe range.

Hydrocollator

  • Check the water level and add water, if needed.
  • Inspect hydrocollator packs for leaks. Scrub with soap and water if necessary.
  • Ensure operating temperature is in a safe range.

Vichy Shower & Hydrotherapy Tub

  • Clean with liquid disinfectant spray and rinse thoroughly with fresh water.
  • Wipe all control knobs with clean, wet cloth, removing all salt or other treatment products.

Rotary Brush

  • Clean brushes with antibacterial cleanser and warm water.
  • Soak in hospital grade disinfectant for 10 minutes, then dry facing up.
  • Clean handle with hospital grade disinfectant or 90% alcohol.

Paraffin Warmer

  • Be sure paraffin is at the proper level prior to each use.
  • Ensure operating temperature is in a safe range.

Vac Spray

  • Clean cupping glasses with warm, soapy water and hospital grade surface disinfectant.
  • Clean handle with hospital grade disinfectant or 90% alcohol.
