The Body Exfoliant Trick That’ll WOW Your Clients
Spa treatments don’t always need a complicated new protocol to feel more customized or complete. Sometimes, a simple add-on can bring extra comfort, softness, and polish to services clients already enjoy.
Eco-fin’s warm, emollient texture makes it a versatile base for a moisturizing exfoliant. By blending melted Eco-fin with a gentle exfoliating ingredient, you can create a quick, customized treatment add-on that leaves skin feeling soft, smooth, and conditioned.
Here’s how to make it, plus a few ways to personalize the experience with texture, scent, and treatment intention.
Make a Moisturizing Exfoliant with Eco-fin
Eco-fin is a versatile, multi-use emollient made with plant oils and shea butter to help soften and condition the skin. When melted and blended with an exfoliating ingredient, it creates a simple scrub-style treatment that feels warm, comforting, and customized.
Use it on hands, feet, arms, legs, or other areas where a gentle exfoliating add-on makes sense for the service. It’s easy to prep, easy to apply, and simple to adapt with different exfoliants or scent options.
For spas, it can also be positioned as a seasonal enhancement or small paid add-on, helping the treatment feel more personalized without adding a complicated new protocol.
What You’ll Need
- Eco-fin cubes (use 2 cubes for the exfoliant mixture, or 6–8 cubes if incorporating a full Eco-fin treatment or wrap)
- A heat-safe rubber bowl
- A hot towel cabi (to preheat)
- Your choice of 2-3 oz. of exfoliating ingredient:
- French Sea Salt for a gentle, fine texture
- Sugar, salt, or even dried herbs for custom textures, aromas, and treatment themes
How to Make It
- Melt Your Eco-fin: Grab two Eco-fin cubes and pop them into a rubber bowl. Place the bowl in your hot towel cabinet to melt the cubes, about 25 minutes. (Pro tip: Make it in advance and keep it warm in your cabi.) Once melted, you’re ready to mix.
- Mix Your Exfoliant: Take your melted Eco-fin and add your exfoliating ingredient of choice. For a fine, moisturizing exfoliant, use about 1.5 teaspoons of Spa Pantry French Sea Salt. Stir it up until it’s all blended nicely.
- Apply the Exfoliant: Using your hands or a brush, spread the mixture onto your client’s skin. Focus on areas that could use some extra love. Massage gently to exfoliate and let the nourishing goodness of Eco-fin sink in.
- Rinse and Finish: Wipe away the exfoliant with warm, damp towels, revealing smooth, glowing skin. To finish, you can follow up with a massage using warm Eco-fin or another moisturizer to lock in all that hydration.
Why This Works
This treatment works because it pairs gentle exfoliation with the softening, conditioning benefits of Eco-fin. The exfoliant helps buff away dry, dull surface skin, while Eco-fin’s plant oils and shea butter leave skin feeling smooth, supple, and moisturized.
It’s also quick to prep and easy to customize, making it a practical add-on for body treatments, hand and foot services, or seasonal treatment features.
Personalize by Treatment Intention
Want to make this treatment feel even more personalized? Let your client choose their treatment intention before you begin. Eco-fin’s scent options make it easy to turn a simple exfoliating add-on into a themed spa ritual that feels thoughtful, seasonal, and customized.
Here are a few ways to group the scents on your menu:
Bright & Uplifting
For clients who want something cheerful, juicy, and vacation-inspired.
Try Coconut & Pineapple or Raspberry Grapefruit.
Comforting & Indulgent
Perfect for clients craving something cozy, sweet, and dessert-like.
Try Vanilla Essence or Chocolate.
Calming & Restorative
A beautiful choice for clients who want to slow down, unwind, and feel cared for.
Try Green Tea Aloe, Jasmine Sandalwood, or Lavender Vanilla.
Energizing & Clarifying
Great for clients who love a clean, refreshing, spa-like aroma.
Try Peppermint Essence, Lemongrass, or Eucalyptus.
Seasonal Rituals
Ideal for limited-time services, holiday menus, or seasonal specials.
Try Butter Rum, Cinnamon Ginger, or Wild Berries.
You can also offer an Unscented option for clients who prefer a fragrance-free experience or for spas that want to customize the treatment with their own exfoliants, herbs, or aromatics.
This small menu-style moment helps clients feel involved in the experience—and gives you an easy way to turn one simple treatment into multiple themed offerings throughout the year.
Tips for Success
- Get creative with your exfoliants! Add dried lavender or rosemary for a calming aromatherapy twist, or use sugar for a softer texture.
- Mix up larger batches if you’re short on time. Just store them at room temperature and give them a good stir before using.
- Highlight this exfoliant as part of a seasonal special, signature treatment, or simple service enhancement. It gives clients a more customized experience while helping your menu feel fresh and creative.
