6 Trends Your Clients are Googling & Sharing

In years past, we gathered spa industry trend reports and combined them into a list for you. For 2020, we’re doing things a little differently.

Curiosity got the better of us. What are people searching for that relates to spa and wellness? How can we let our customers know so they can meet the demand? The answers: Google data and our own trend report. Apparently, yoga skin, tweakments—and yes, CBD—are going to be hot this year! See what else your clients are googling and sharing:

Massage Cupping

Made famous by celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Michael Phelps, cupping’s popularity isn’t a surprise. While traditional cupping often employs the use of fire to deoxygenate glass cups, more modern methods like Bellabaci are safer. Bellabaci cups are hand-squeezable silicone, so they don’t require heat or special pumps.

There are good reasons to offer massage cupping, including an increase in circulation where the cups are placed, reduction of the appearance of cellulite, deep relaxation, and more. And cupping isn’t just for the body. Facial cupping is excellent for minimizing the look of fine lines and wrinkles. Whether you offer cupping as a stand-alone treatment or as a profitable add-on, it’s a service that’ll diversify your treatments and drive recurring revenue.

Yoga Skin

Imagine your complexion after shavasana, just as you’re sitting up, getting ready to leave yoga class. Dewy, subtly flushed, and relaxed. That’s yoga skin. It’s a lit-from-within look that’s blown up on Instagram courtesy of UK-based makeup artist Sara Hill.

There are several steps involved in achieving yoga skin with makeup: cleansing, allowing moisturizers to fully absorb, and then blending 3-4 pumps of foundation with a drop each of facial oil and liquid highlighter and massaging it into the skin. Lastly, a cream blush or bronzer is applied, and the look is set with powder.

Sound Bath Healing

“Bathing” in calming sounds produced by singing bowls, chimes, tuning forks, or other soothing instruments helps ease tension and aids meditation. Their frequencies are said to stimulate certain brainwaves, encouraging more restful sleep and soothing anxiety. In fact, a recent study found that Tibetan singing bowl meditations helped reduce tension and symptoms of depression.

Introducing sound bathing in spa treatments may provide a key differentiator for you. If you don’t consider yourself a “sound bathing musician,” don’t worry. You can find vibrational music and sound bath meditations on Spotify and similar sites.

CBD Skin Care

You may be wondering–Why CBD in skin care? Remind me what CBD is again?

Using CBD facial concentrates or serums in holistic facials helps release puffiness and stagnation. A good lightweight, non-comedogenic blend can deliver radiance and minimize the appearance of redness as well. CBD skin care can be used as a standalone treatment or as an add-on (e.g., a gentle ear massage with a lush CBD oil blend).

Tweakments

Tweakments are aesthetic services for those experiencing the signs of aging and wish to postpone facelifts. These alternative treatments include CoolSculpting, dermal fillers, micro-needling, LED light therapy, oxygenating super facials, and peels.

Tweakments may serve as profitable add-ons to your existing anti-aging treatments or as standalones.
